WORKING MODEL FOR SCIENCE EXHIBITION- ELECTRICITY FROM SALT WATER

 



MATERIALS REQUIRED 

Used battery (to take zinc plate and carbon rod), connection wire, small DC motor/led, salt water and a tumbler or beaker made of insulating material (glass/paper/plastic)

PROCEDURE 

From the used battery, cut off a zinc plate and carbon-rod. Connect this zinc plate and the carbon rod to a connection wire. Place this zinc plate and carbon rod in an insulated tumbler without touching each other. Fill the tumbler with salt water. And connect other end of connection wire to a DC motor/LED. 

 OBSERVATION 

We can observe that LED/DC motor start running

SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION 

Electric current is produce in the arrangement due to the production and movement of ions (ions are the charged atoms) when zinc and carbon rod dipped in salt water.
