LATENT HEAT

 LATENT HEAT OF FUSION

The amount of heat energy required to change 1 kilogram of solid completely into liquid at atmospheric pressure at it’s melting point is known as latent heat of fusion.

eg:- latent heat of fusion of ice is heat energy required to change 1 kg of ice completely into water at atmospheric pressure at it’s melting point 0⁰c

LATENT HEAT OF VAPORISATION

The amount of heat energy required to change 1 kilogram of liquid completely into gas at atmospheric pressure at it’s boiling point is known as latent heat of vaporisation.

eg:- latent heat of vaporisation of water is heat energy required to change 1 kg of water completely into water vapour at atmospheric pressure at it’s boiling point 100⁰c.

LATENT HEAT OF FUSION AND VAPORISATION OF SOME SUBSTANCES ARE PROVIDED BELOW
