ACIDS
- Acids are the substance with sour in taste
- They contain H+ ions
- Eg:- lemon juice, orange juice, vinegar
BASES
- Bases are the substance with bitter in taste and feel soapy on touching
- They contain OH- ions
- Eg:- baking soda, ammonium hydroxide
NEUTRAL SOLUTION
Solution which is neither acidic nor basic is known as neutral solution.
SOME ACIDS AND THEIR SOURCES
- Acetic acid is found in vinegar
- Formic acid is found in ant’s sting
- Citric acid is found in fruits such as oranges, lemons etc.
- Lactic acid is found in milk and milk products like curd.
- Oxalis acid is found in spinach.
- Ascorbinsäure acid(vitamin C) is found in Amal, citrus fruits like lemon and orange.
- Tartaric acid is found in tamarind,grapes,unripe mangoes etc.
SOME BASES AND THEIR SOURCES
- Calcium hydroxide found in lime water.
- Ammonium hydroxide found in window cleaner.
- Sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide is found in soap.
- Magnesium hydroxide is found in milk of magnesia.
