SEA BREEZE AND LAND BREEZE

 SEA BREEZE 

During day time land get heated faster than water(*). The air over the land get heated and raise upward(*) . So the cooler air from the sea rushes towards land due to density difference and the warmer air from the land move towards sea to complete the cycle. This movement of cooler air from sea to land is called sea breeze.

*specific heat capacity of water is high compared to sand. so water acquires temperature slowly but land get warmer quickly. 

* hot air raises upward because of convection 

LAND BREEZE 

During night time, water cools down very slowly(*) compared to land. The warm air over the sea raise upward(*) . So the cooler air from the land rushes towards sea and the warmer air from sea move towards the land. The movement of cooler air from land is called land breeze.

*specific heat capacity of water is high compared to sand. so water cools down slowly.

* hot air raises upward because of convection .
