TYPE OF MIXTURES
Mixtures are classified based on the components that form a mixture, its compositions etc. Mixtures are of two types homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous mixtures
HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURES
Mixtures which have uniform composition throughout are called as homogeneous mixtures.
Examples
- Salt dissolved in water
- Sugar dissolved in water
- Copper sulphate powder dissolved in water
HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES
Mixtures which have non-uniform compositions and contain physically distinct parts are called as heterogeneous mixtures.
Examples
- Cornflakes Mixed with milk
- Mixture of sodium chloride and iron fillings
- Mixture of oil and water
