 Colours of light

White light is composed of seven colours 

V - violet

I - indigo

B - blue

G - green

Y - yellow

O - orange

R - red

In short, 7 colours of light in order of their wavelength can be called as ‘VIBGYOR’. Each colours of light  with their wavelength is given in the table below.

Composite light

Any light composed of more than one colour is called composite light.

Definition of Dispersion 

Dispersion is the phenomenon of splitting up of a composite light into its constituent colours. We can observe dispersion of light when we pass sunlight (white light) through glass prism. Observe the picture below
